Communication with parents
At Yarlside Academy we pride ourselves on our excellent formal and informal communication with parents. We believe that a strong partnership with parents is vital to ensure the most effective education for our children.
We operate an open door policy where parents are welcome to come in for whatever reason (if a parent wishes to speak at length with a teacher or the Head, then an appointment would be necessary).
ParentPay is an online secure system that we use for communicating with parents via email and text message, as well as well as a more convenient way to pay for trips, school meals, music/swimming lessons, breakfast/after school and much more. Bookings for both school meals and before/after school provision are also made via ParentPay. When your child joins the school you will be given an activation code to create an account. More than one account can be created for separated parents.
In an effort to cut down on waste amd make the most of our resources all of our communication is sent via ParentPay.
Regular Headteacher monthly newsletters are sent home and are available on the school website, these detail all school news/information, including events and academic news. Half-termly class newsletters are also sent home from the class teacher with relevant class information. The school website and social media is regularly updated with relevant information and news feeds. Parents are also given class teacher email contacts.
Parents are invited into school for parental consultations in both the Autumn and Spring terms to discuss their child’s progress with the class teacher.
Detailed annual reports on individual children are sent home towards the end of the Summer Term.
