Mini Topics

Gardeners' World

This half term we will be continuing our work about plants and working to ensure everything is planted in our allotment. We are going to be writing poems about flowers, continuing to update our food origins map, using the computers and ipads to research wild flowers and identifying trees in our school grounds.

Once we have finished our work on Gardeners' World we will be focusing on Buddhism for a couple of weeks. This coincides with our school trip to the Manjushri Kadampa Centre at Conishead Priory in Ulverston. We will be learning about the life of Buddha, symbols in Buddhism, the lives of Buddhist monks and nuns and creating artwork related to Buddhism.

Tie Dye T-shirts

Our final project for the year will be focused on Design Technology skills. Each child will design and make their own tie dyed t-shirt. Please see my newsletter (sent out on Parent Pay) for further information about this project. This project is usually a very fun and creative way to end the year!

PE and Forest Schools

This term our PE days are Tuesday and Friday.

On Tuesday we will be playing team games.
On Fridays we will be further developing our ball skills.
Please make sure hair is tied up and no earrings are worn on PE days. If possible, please could trainers be sent and kept in school as we will be outside for our PE lessons whenever the weather allows.

Forest Schools will continue each Friday. A full change of clothes is not needed, just trainers or wellies please.

Thank you.

Keep checking back, more coming soon to the Year 1 Class Page...
