Topic


    
Our current topic is 'Fire, Fire'. During this topic, the children will be learning about the Great Fire of London in History. We will also be designing and making our own version of Pudding Lane in Design and Technology along with art work using oil pastels and developing computing skills to create a presentation about the Great Fire.


 




Big Maths

Learn It's, CLIC and SAFE Challenges are tested every week and the completed sheets are sent home so that any mistakes can be reviewed at home ready for next week.

Reading


The children are expected to read for at least 10 minutes each night. The children's reading books are changed on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Parents are expected to record their childs reading in their home school reading record. 


 




Spellings

 

The children will be given a list of 10 spellings every Monday. These will be stuck into their Spelling and Handwriting Homework book along with the spelling rule for each set of spellings. The children are expected to copy a line of each spelling in joined up handwritng into their book and return it to school the following Monday. Spellings will be tested on Fridays.
 

Currents spelling rule and word list:

Spelling rule: If a word ends in a short vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u) and a consonant, we double the consonant before adding -er or -est.

Physical Education and Swimming Lessons



Our PE lessons will take place on a Tuesday afternoon and a Friday morning. All children must have the correct PE kit in school, long hair must be tied back and no jewellery is to be worn. Trainers will be needed for outdoor PE lessons in the summer term.
